Leadership & HR Transformation
HR “as we know it” may no longer exist in the near future. As new technologies and other mega trends are reshaping our societies and the corporate world, people in human resource management and development functions are not immune to change, according to PacRim Group, the Thailand’s leading leadership development company that is specialized on developing collective behavior change for creating measurable and lasting results for organizations.
The HR Predictions 2024 research conducted by the Josh Bersin Company, pointed out that artificial intelligence (AI) will “massively impact HR, transforming job descriptions, talent intelligence systems, performance management, and employee experience in organizations.” “AI, it says, will change every part of HR, and every role in the company.
Certainly, technology is not the only factor driving transformative change. A global demographic shift, hybrid workplaces, and new workforce’s expectations and “choices” are also among many factors that prompt organizations worldwide to rethink the way they operate and engage with their employees.
To assist Thai organizations and their HR leaders to prepare for this seismic shift in HR and corporate world, PacRim Group, a top leadership consultancy which advises most of the top 500 organizations in Thailand during the last three decades, meanwhile, recently organized the “HR New Frontier Summit” in collaboration with the Josh Bersin Company.
Josh Bersin and PacRim experts have suggested HR leaders to move boldly on many critical areas including to focus on the “human-centered leadership”, skill-based organization, diversity, new HR operating model, AI-driven systems, and autonomous learning platform, among others.
A growing importance of “leadership and human skills”
Adam Merrill, EVP, Market & Customer Intelligence and Executive Director of the FranklinCovey Institute, told a recent webinar that in the AI and tech-laden world, leadership and human skills will become increasingly importance.
“When you think of a leader who may have made a difference in your life and changed the trajectory of your career, it’s not because of how efficient they were with you, and it probably was not because they had a lot of skills. It was because they saw you differently. They saw you as a whole person, they invited you to engage, to get involved and bringing your whole self to work in meaningful ways against meaningful goals.
“That what leaders do, and that human capacity and that very human interaction is the most valuable part of organization. Ai doesn’t care, but people care,” he said.
Porntip Iyimapun, Founder and CEO of PacRim, the exclusive partner of FranklinCovey in Thailand, agreed that leadership and human skills would become even more critical in AI-driven world.
“And amid the rapid pace of change, ‘principles’ will prevail as they will serve as an anchor for leaders and employees to sail through the storm of uncertainties, she said, citing the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People as one of the “timeless” principles that can help individuals, teams and organizations to thrive and survive any disruptions and crises.
“Since technologies will shorten the shelf life of many hard skills and commoditize many jobs, human skills will thus gain in much more importance.
According to the World Economic Forum, human skills will be right up there with the AI skills. High tech with high touch, or human intelligence combined with AI is the future.
“PacRim has strong passion and commitment to uplift the HR professionals in Thailand. We will be growing together, stay relevant and make real impacts on organization’s sustainability,” added Porntip.
